Probably some of you guys don't know the band i'm listening to right now. It's one of the famous indie band from Indonesia. But, i'm sure you all know the Beatles. A phenomenal band in the world, marvelous and inspiring. Especially the vocalist and founder, John Lennon. Yeah, this is the story about him, the teenage life of John. A film called "Nowhere Boy" (2009) and directed by Sam Taylor Wood.

The story begins when John had a bad dream about his childhood. John lives with his aunt, Mimi and uncle, George. They spend time together and everything changed when Uncle George passed away. For him, George was more than uncle, he's like his father. Then something's come up, John saw his Biological Mother at funeral party. He's curious about this lady and decides to meet her. Well, the truth is John live just a couple blocks from his Mom, Julia. The first meeting of these two-Mom-and-Son-separated is awkward. Fortunately, Julia's cheerfulness has melted the shy John. They went to Blackpool, an amusement place near town. By the time, Julia and John get back their chemistry. This meeting continues to the other meetings between John and Julia, which is a secret for Mimi.

One day, John got punished from school, he's even can't enter the school anymore. That makes John have to hide somewhere during the day in order to pretend going to school from Mimi. Mimi is a stubborn and discipline woman. She wants the best for John that sometimes gives John a hard time and pressure. Finally, John stays at Julia's house. Meanwhile, Julia has three children already and a husband named, Bobby. Julia is a happy and lovable person. She loves Elvis Presley and rock n' roll music. Julia also teaches John how to play Banjo. Which is the turning point of John to create a rock n' roll band.  Mimi bought him a guitar with good price and unfortunately got it sold again at John's first gig. Mimi was disappointed with John's attitude at school. But it doesn't matter cuz Julia bought him back a guitar and he's mind is full of music performing at the park. The skiffle band called Quarrymen, which plays music by household tools in Liverpool, was the first band of John. That day also, Paul McCartney was inspired by the performance and decided to meet John at backstage. Paul Mccartney shows his guitar skill accompanied by Ivan, John's friend. But John was like hiding his interest of Paul. Later on, Paul join into John's band and they become best friend. Paul's Mom also has passed away cuz of cancer when he was 15 years old. That time, Mimi and Julia was arguing about John's life. Mimi wants him to go away from Julia and Julia wants John back into her life.

One night, on John's birthday. Everything was revealed. It is figured that Alfred Lennon, John's father is a busy man. He's never around John's childhood and Julia gave up to raise John. Then, at Blackpool, Alfred asked John, a 5-year-old child, "Which one do you choose?" "Dad," said John. Julia was gone away and cried. Even when John asked her to go back but Julia didn't want. That was the time when Mimi took John from Julia cuz she knows John can't live with Julia. John was very angry with Julia after he knows the truth. That's also the reason why Mimi doesn't allow John to go to Blackpool. John spends his disappointing childhood into music. He created a song with Paul McCartney called "Hello Little Girl."

Mimi and Julia have talked and be friends again. John was so happy to hear that. But life is about happiness and sadness that we can't never avoid. Julia got crashed by a car and passed away. John was never be so sad than before. He even punched Paul cuz he can't accept the death of Julia. She was gone when John just started to know her. John realizes that he just has Mimi for now. But they must be separated cuz John got offer to play gigs at Hamburg, Germany. Since that, John never forget to call Mimi and loves Mimi more.

This film teaches me to take care of Mom, i call her Ibu, as long as she lives in this world. I have done a terrible attitude that makes her hates me very much. I realize that i'm so thankful to Allah that i have a really kind, strong, patient, Ibu. She is my energy to do everything. Her body is skinny but her heart is as big as Rambo. Over the pressure that she has, she still can raise three children and obeys my stubborn Dad, Bapak. Despite the unforgivably attitude of me, she forgives me in two days. A short time for a big mistake. Her heart is full of love. She is just a woman i wanna be in ten years later. I don't wanna lose my chance like John Lennon. So from now on, i will fix my attitude to her, i will make her proud of me and be a solehah girl. I wanna take her to Mecca for Hajj. Sorry for your naughty daughter, Ibu. But, i do love you, i really do. Inspite of all the danger, i'll do anything for you, anything you want me to. I admire John cuz despite all his sad childhood story, John stands up of life and drive it all into music. Thank you John for reminding us, to do anything for our Mom before anything is too late x)
