-To Be Continued-
How was your sleep? Hope it was a nice sleep after Saturday night! Haha
Let we continue the awesome weekend story then x)
Day 2: June, 19th
Yesterday was like a nightmare for me. Yes the good part is about Hamam Mellegue and Le Kasbah but Taher was the antagonist inside the dream. He’s friendly and helpful enough but he should be more mature with his age. This morning, Connie and I took picture at our luxurious room. We totally got the coolest place! x) The other rooms are normal and not special like ours. I took picture of the old man- guardian of La Source Hotel. He’s sleeping tightly at his room.
The guardian is sleeping tightly
Yesterday, we found the ruins on the way to Le Kasbah. So it’s our first destination this morning. When we arrived, there was a donkey in front of the door. He's waiting for his breakfast. hehe The ruins are cool as well. It’s located in the middle of housing complex so it doesn’t seem to be taken care of. It's like hidden, people who look from outside will be curious to see the real inside. I think it’s part of Romans’ ruin but the small one.
Morning Donkey!
Connie and Julien set up for next plan
While i was taking pictures, i heard that Julien gave Connie’s number to Taher. Well done Jul, you’ll get us trapped again! Huhu Julien is a person who can’t say no. He’s a typical kind-hearted-person. So we can’t run away from Taher and at the same time, Connie’s phone rang, it’s him! He asked where we are now and Julien said we wanna go find some breakfast. So Taher said he will take us to the nicest place for having coffee at Le Kef. We’ll see what he will do today. We left the ruins and find some shops to buy breads. Actually, i don’t wanna go to meet Taher but there’s no choice.
I found cool vintage houses on the way to cafe. Finally, we met Taher and he walked us to a coffee shop at the street. We talked and he asked our contacts. Connie and I don't give our emails and Fortunately we can’t speak French so Julien is the speaker for us. Once Taher asked Julien’s email, i saw his eyes, he even can’t lie. It’s simple, just say that you don’t have any email. But Julien gave Taher his skype, i think, so it’s fine. Then we discussed our next destination: Douga or Teboursouk? I said Douga! x) But Connie has been there so Teboursouk is the answer. I just realized that Taher dropped us to the border of Le Kef. The rest of road is going to Teboursouk. Finally, good bye Taher! Thank you for the trip! x)
Cool vintage house
We kept walking until find the cars who wanna ride with us. Being a hitchhaker is totally awesome! But remember, we’re lucky cuz we travel with Julien which is a guy and speak French. Don’t ever try if you travel alone, girls. There are many crazy people out there! x) It’s quite hard to find cars this afternoon. Some of them just passed by. Connie and I, started to play games of hitchhiking. Who will get a ride first? Julien can’t play cuz drivers won’t be interest to see guys waving hand. haha
After an old fashioned car, we wanted to get a pick up! Hahaha OMG, to get a ride now is more than enough, no need to be so picky! Hehe Finally we got our car, a better one, a nice pick up car with air condition x)) Julien is always sits at the front cuz he’s the one who will chat with driver. This second guy is nice, he told us that he planned to go to Marseille but because of some reasons he can’t go there. He also can’t drive us far cuz he’s on the way to his father’s house.
Beautiful view
The view surronding : Is it flat? Hope it's not x)
We’re back at the street. The sign told us that to the left is going to Bulla Regia-Tabarka and go straight is to the Teboursouk. I’ve been to Tabarka but i really wanna go to Bulla regia. I heard it's anunderground ruins. But, Connie had been there as well, so i think we should stick to Teboursouk. The sun was very strong, my skin feels like burnt. Julien was soo tanned, his parents won’t believe he was in Paris! haha Then we’re talking about the hitchhiking. In France, girls should ask first where the driver will go, cuz if she said her destination, she’ll be trapped. It’s also will be easier to get ride when girls do hicthhike compare than guys. Our strategy is, whether Connie or I who waves hand to cars and Julien will ask the driver if they go to Teboursouk or not. Deal! x) This time, we wanna get a truck! Sounds challenging! Haha Finally after some refusement, there are some workers passed us by with small trucks. Immediately, we wave our hands and got it! xD~
They are so kind. Even though they can’t understand english but they welcomed us get in the truck. Oh, there are other trucks beside this one which are also their friends. Since i can speak a bit Arabic, so i greeted them with, “Chana walek? Labes?” means, “How are you? Fine?”. They giggled and said “Labes, Hamdulillah” x) I enjoyed time with these middle aged men. They are funny that makes connie and I laughed happily. So does Julien, he smiled widely x) The most thing was the excitement to sit on truck! Hehe You really have to keep the balance if you sit at the edge.
Julien sits at the edge confidentially xD~
I was starving enough when they asked us to have lunch together. But they have to work first for thirty minutes. So we agreed to join them working in the middle of hot crazy summer. The one who can speak english was a young guy named, Zied, he is on holiday and his college is in Monastir. He’s kinda cute, actually. haha And he told us that he always come to help his family during holiday. Good guy! Well, Do you wanna know what the men are working on? They are working to gather the straws around the field. These straws are useful during winters. I was going to help them but they said it’s fine for us, girls, just to set on the tractor. Connie and I took cool pictures on tractor, for once in my life i did this activity! Nice x) Julien also say that he remembered when he was a child, he usually helped his Dad to set on truck. These men work happily, i don’t see any burden on their eyes. After finished collected the straws then we went to their house for lunch. I wondered what we’ll have there.

Tractor girls!
Ready to go!
Funny happy workers
Arrived at home, the women welcomed us. Seemed they’re happy to have guests. They have prepared us the sandwichs for lunch. Together with all the men, we have a full lunch. It’s just simple sandwich that i usually take at Tunis. But their kindness has made the taste of sandwich i ate that afternoon, more delicious. The house is simple, living room with sofa and TV at the front. The next is kicthen where all women gather to cook. I think they are big family who lives close to each other. There was a grandma also, she’s Tunisian old lady that i see around twice in Tunis. But this one is totally cool! She has tatooes on his cheek and hands. She wears traditional clothes, calm and always bring tasbih. Beautiful! I love the way she looks at me. She looks surprised with my act. hehehe Finally i can see this Tunisian lady face to face.
Let's watch TV!
The Living room
I was offered the honey from its nest. They just bought it at market. It’s so sweet! There’s another girl named Khaula, she speaks a lil bit english. She’s still 18years old and she’s on holiday as well. She’s not sure whether she will continue her study to university or not. Then she showed us their sheeps, the sheeps are at the side of house. They have chickens too! Time flies fast, we have to go cuz It’s evening already. We changed contacts with Khaula and Connie, as usual gave her chinese pocket money. I don’t bring anything from Indonesia so i hope she remembers where i’m from.
Sweet honey

Khaula and I are having chit-chat
Before we go, all women gather around for taking pictures with us. They are such a very nice people! Just before we left, Suddenly, the woman, she's the first from the left on picture, she gave Julien 10 dinars. WOW! I was very surprised cuz we are the one who should give them money. But they said, the father , especially, had considered Julien as brother. It's cool that you can be a brother of someone just in two hours. Julien said No and this is the first time i saw him say that words after yesterday. They still want us to take the money even we say we’re fine and don’t need it. So, with combination between sorry and thankful face, we left and said goodbye. On the way, Julien said that they have asked us why we hitchhiked. The reason is to save money that doesn’t mean we don’t have money. 10 dinars for them is a big amount, they gained it by working from 6 AM to 6 PM on someone else's field. And, they still can donate and give their money to needy people. Subhanallah x)

Grandma and I: We're from the same time machine x)
Amazing, today we met a very kind and generous people after a hard day yesterday. Strangers are always unpredictable. I’ve learnt how to be humble and care to others no matter our situation is. In the middle of tired body and cruel summer , it gives me a new spirit. We don’t know what we’ll have later but sure we’re going to Teboursouk. FYI, the story is our last chapter of awesome weekend dream, way more interesting and worth it to be read! Check them out in next post! See you soon! x))
