Christmas Dinner is Here!

December, 24th, 2010

Finally, the Christmas dinner was here! After the busy preparation and the clueless me to cook Indonesian food for dinner, it was happened, just now. Yeah, Marce and Pola cooked their traditional foods, Colombian and Poland foods. The ones they usually have at Christmas dinner with family. And me, I have no idea, uhm, exactly, I can’t cook. Haha But it’s okay, since I’ve paid by helping them cooking. I can’t wait for the first Christmas dinner in my life, yeah since I celebrate Idul Fitri. x)

 Messy christmas dinner preparation

The dinner was at 8 PM and we invited all AIESEC guys and trainees to apartment. First person came was the guy whom I never met before. He has thick eye brows, wore the horizontal stripped blue-black sweater, and kindly greeted Pola when he arrived. He seemed so close with Pola, they laughed and joked together at kitchen. “Hey, Ulka, this is Tarekh”, said Pola. “Hello..”, I waved and smiled to him. Next, when I went to put the plates in the big room, he was there and asked me, “Ulka, are you okay now?”.  I was confused, “Yeah, I’m fine.”  And he replied, “Good. Cuz the last time I heard you were sick so you postpone the flight to here.”  “Aha, yeah. I was but now I’m okay”, I got his point. 3 days before my flight to Tunisia, I was sick so I decided to take a rest and postponed the flight. Anyway, Tarekh is one of EB members in AIESEC Thyna. The dinner continued with the coming of Ayoub and Fateh. Their eyes look hungry to see delicious foods on table. They brought along the red wines also. I chose to sit between Ayoub and Marce, at the corner.

Pola, Marce and Me: The Master Chefs xD~
Foods (left to right): Bunuelos, Colombian rice, Bread, Banana Jely Cake, Croquette, "Ryba Po Grecku", Crackers

The foods were soooo delicious! Thanks Marce and Pola! x) My favorite was the Colombian Rice and the Banana Jelly. I just can’t stop to take and put them in mouth, again and again. I ate a lot, wohoo xD~

Me, Pola, Tarekh and Ayoub: We LOVE the food!

The next people come were Wasim and friends. I just knew Wasim as well, he was tall and kind of rebellious guy. Wasim’s friends sat on the bed across our bed. Many new faces tonight, including one guy, Firaz. His eyes are different, colored in green and bright. Mostly, Tunisians irises are light brown or black. More people came and the party was fired up. Marce danced with Tarekh and Pola with Iskandar. I also don’t know about Iskandar, Marce told me he was alumni of AIESEC.  And me, I just sat nicely and laughed sometimes.

Tarekh and Marce

It was late already. Ayoub, Fateh, Firaz and Wassim were still with us. We joked together, I said that “Tarekh, your name in Malaysia would be date, Tarikh.” “Oh, really? Ulka your name is Olga here,” Tarekh replied. Haha No way, Olga is a famous celebrity guy in Indonesia. Suddenly, the bell rang and showed up three people. Two white girls and I think one Tunisian guy. “Hello guys, sorry we’re late,” said the white and long hair. “It’s okay, you guys are welcomed,” Marce smiled. They are trainees, Britanny the long hair from US and Angie from Canada who brought his boyfriend. Before Britanny stayed in this apartment but since it is far from work so she moved to her boss house. What a nice boss! And that question finally striked, “Where are you from?”
Britanny: Hi, i think i know where you from. Wait. (thinking)
Angie: Is she from Vietnam?
Me: Nooo. (big shake head)
Britanny: Ha, from Malaysia?
Me: Yeah, i’m studying there but i’m from Indonesia.
Britanny: Great!

I still remember when a guy in looage on the way to Sfax asked me whether I’m Chinese, Japanese or Korean. And now, Vietnam, maybe tomorrow would be Laos. Cool.
After all, it was a great Christmas party. We had fun and this is like a welcoming party for me. After three days ago I arrived in Tunisia. Anyway, Nidhal, friend of Becky, the girl who stays in the big room came to party and offered Marce to go to Kerkena this weekend. He will accompany her since Kerkena is his hometown. Well, I would love to go there! I heard it is beautiful island. Can’t Wait! Time to sleep. Thanks x)

Merry Christmas,
Chandini
