Me and HAI (Part 1)

So, i want to tell you about my short week internship in HAI. Yes, HAI is a youth magazine located in Kompas Gramedia Building, Kebun Jeruk, Jakarta. I really want to tell you this since long time. Well, i got the opportunity from my Uncle. Anyway, Kompas Gramedia is one of the most leading printing media companies in Indonesia. He was a speaker at seminar for employers of Kompas Gramedia so he was friend of the chief editor of HAI. At that time it was Sir Ed Suhardy who held the position as chief editor. In the mean time, i was worried waiting for the confirmation from Provoke! Magazine as well as wasted my holiday time. For your information, i applied as graphic designer in Provoke!. It's just for internship, by the way. And they haven't give me confirmation yet. So i asked Uncle's help to find me any company to work. Finally when i got an offer, it was a confusing when Uncle asked, "Do you wanna be a journalist or graphic designer?" Well, i love to be a journalist as well as graphic designer. But you can't do both. It needs different skills and capabilities. Though i'm from Multimedia background..i'm not so good in graphic design. I need to learn a lot. 

So i said to him, "I will work as a journalist." Then..voila! I was in the office already. HAI Magazine office is on 6th floor..located in the west of Jakarta. On my first day, the boss, Mas Ryo (hello Mas x) ) was okay..i mean he's not a kind of boss who introduce all the staff on the first day. He just said that i can sit at the back. I wore skirt and long sleeve shirt..formal dress. Cuz i thought i will work..i thought i would  be in a cold office..with super serious employers. It was confusing on the first day. I didn't know what to do. I wore a formal nice dress whereas others were with t-shirt and jeans. I wasn't confident. Then a guy came..he asked my address..apparently it was the same address with his auntie whom lived in Bekasi. He warned me not to wear that such formal dress again cuz our office is more relax and fun!  Then we talked a lot..he was our fashion stylist. Idho..was his name x)

Anyway, there were two things i remember about HAI. First when i met Base Jam. Wow.. it was fun. Do you remember the song of "Pujangga Cinta"? It was Base Jam's song. This band was disappeared for quiet a while. Then they appeared again with new song. HAI was one of the magazine which has opportunity to interview them. Andd, i was shocked to see Adon, Base Jam, the vocalist, sooo tall. He is like an electricity tower xD Soo tall. But he's kind and friendly. All of them are kind. It's not like seen in TV which sometimes they were quiet arrogant. Probably since they were at that time with journalist..us. I was accompanied Agil, my friend who interviewed them. So fun! To hear the questions and listen to their answers. They were like a good friend to us. Of course, they must..(if they don't want he journalists to kill them) xp

Secondly, the day when i went to the GRUVI, video clip shooting process. It was in the night..so dark and i was alone. I don't know how to go there. Luckily, one of co-worker knew the area so she dropped me to Manggarai..the shooting place. It has started already when i came. I was confuse to find the area cuz it is located in the old house. They used it as shooting place. Then i went there and i met Fajar Alexa xD and other celebrities that i don't know. They were kind and greeted me. And when they asked, "Where are you from?" "I'm from HAI Magazine." So they will smile and say, "Okay..good." Then Bibus, the former of band came. He greeted me as well. He asked about some question and it's time for me to ask him question. Interview time! It was okay in the beginning..but battery finally finished and i just pretend that i hold a video for them nevertheless it was only for audio. Haha.  Thank god, i have good memory. So i wrote down all the interview result when i came back. Bibus was nice, he gave me pick guitar before i went home. I just took some pics for them. And it's all Courtesy of HAI Magazine. Oh ya i work for online..i mean http://hai-online.com/. As a writer..of course. In the journalist world is reporter. The shooting report was nice! Finally i went safely back home.

I also came to the headquarters of Indonesian Police for Ariel "Peterpan" news. He was caught for sex tape video. The video has been spreaded all over the world. That day i met many celebrities. Momo "Geisha", Ariel "Nidji", Camelia Malik, Mulan, and the famous one, Ahmad Dhani. Ahmad Dhani was fine.. He wasn't afraid with journalists. I felt to be a real journalist that day. Cuz many journalists came and they all looking for the progress of Ariel. Even though it was exhausting but it was a nice experience. I went there with Kak Seruni, i call her Kak Runi. Nice to meet you, Kak!

I went to other launching album of some band as well before i finish this 2 weeks internship. This internship was by my initiative cuz i wanna know how to work. And it's fun..though as journalist you really need to expect for every worst situation. It suits my personality though..as adventurer. I was almost forgot how i wanna be a journalist since kid..but Mom doesn't allow me so i started to think about other job. But it was meant to be with me. So Go Go, Journalists! x)
